A new 3 surgery NHS dental practice in Anniesland, Glasgow, this project involved the conversion of two existing shop units located within a newly built mixed-use development. The existing structural layout of the separate shop units presented something of a challenge with respect to meeting Building Control and NHS regulations, while still creating a bright and modern dental practice in keeping with the Client’s design aspirations. Keen to keep costs to a minimum, with one strategically located newly formed structural opening between the 2 units we were able to create a natural and flowing layout. The existing construction meant that a raised floor was required to accommodate all necessary service runs for the new dental chairs, however by means of careful planning the extents of the raised floor were kept to a minimum.
Working to a tight schedule, the project was completed within the agreed 8 week programme, allowing the Client to open the practice on the date originally planned.
