NVDC Architects' proposal was to sink the new-build house down into the hillside, leaving the views from the existing house unaffected. In doing this, we managed to squeeze a generously proportioned 3-bedroom detached house and garage onto the site, with expansive views to the south and an elevated private terrace to the rear of the property.

The client approached us to assess the viability of building on their steeply slopping side garden which was difficult and impractical to use.
The site for this project is essentially the side of a steep hill, with the existing house occupying the only level area at the top of the hill.
