Our concept for this hospital building was to communicate and reflect our client’s advanced and technological approach to surgery through a dynamic and technological approach in our design, where the fabric of the new building is lifted up and manipulated to expose and express the interior in the same way as a human body can be manipulated, opened up and stitched back together again in surgery.

Our design places nature at the centre of the building layout both as a symbolic heart for the building and to also build on its therapeutic and rehabilitative qualities to support and enhance the quality of the holistic approach the client has developed toward patient care. The use of nature in our design was also to enhance the patient experience by creating a very calming environment conveying a message of wellness and life.
