A number of standard designs were developed for work-live units based on using different-sized shipping containers. Masterplans were developed to demonstrate how these units could be arranged to create sustainable neighbourhoods with a strong sense of place and community.

This was a feasibility study to explore the client’s ideas for developing affordable communities along Scottish Canals using shipping containers as building methodology and utilising the existing infrastructure of footpaths and canals for connectivity.
