This was a feasibility study to explore the client’s brief for building low-cost office accommodation to meet the gap in the market for affordable office accommodation on periphery sites using shipping containers as a building methodology.
The first site envisaged for this type of development was an unused and undistinguished piece of surplus land in an office park overlooking the canal on Craighall Road.

The units are arranged to take advantage of the views overlooking the canal and out towards the west while stacked on a series of regularly spaced platforms allowing them to step across the site topography, creating a dynamic arrangement and aesthetic, while taking cognisance of the context by creating a well-defined pedestrian route between the canal and the office park, replacing the informal path formed by people taking a shortcut across the overgrown grounds.
